The Weaving of Ancient Tapestries

A tapestry is traditionally described as an ornamental cloth’.

Certain ancient European Tapestries have also known to be embedded with jewels and precious gems. French Tapestries were known to use gold and silver threads in their weaving. These tapestries also used expensive colored wool that that was woven into delicate patterns. Expensive silks and satins have also been used in certain Arabic tapestries. These ancient tapestries were mostly used my kings and princes to line the walls of their castles and palaces. Hence these were naturally expensive and of great worth. Certain ancient Asian tapestries from the Indian subcontinent were hand woven tapestries with floral embroidery that pocketed miniature rubies and gemstones. These tapestries are classic examples of skill, craftsmanship and workmanship. These ancient tapestries were of great worth and remain to be unmatched.

Ancient tapestries were always known to depict a certain tale. Most of these were pictorial descriptions of mythological and biblical texts. These ancient tapestries always held a sense of mystery within them. Certain tapestries have been discovered to depict strange life forms like dragons that breathe fire thought their nostrils, golden unicorns clad in battle armor, strange creatures with multiple heads and limbs and pictures of a different alienated world.

Some other ancient tapestries tell of the heroic tales of their rulers and kings. These tapestries depict the struggles of the nation and the historic battles faced. Others speak of the liberation from slavery, the establishment of a new monarchy and enforcement of new laws.
